We wake up in the morning and check our email to see if we have received any “urgent” messages in the middle of the night. Or we might immediately reach for our blackberries in case any text messages arrived while we were “unplugged” for a few hours during our slumber.

Meanwhile, our partner has woken up, showered and left for work and guess what? We haven’t spoken even one word to each other because we were busy utilizing modern technology to communicate with the rest of the world.

“Sorry that this is long but i just need to talk to someone about this!! So Im with this girl we used to have a relationship but broke up for a month and a half because she said i was to clingy and jealous!! Ive never had a real girlfriend since I was skateboarding and traveling with my sponsors but once i broke my wrist i thought hmm why not try to have a relationship!! So one day after our little break up she calls me and says oh i miss everything about you, i miss the way you make me feel, your sense of humor, i miss everything about you!! So she asked me to come over and hang out with her!! So i did because i missed her to!! She said she wants to take things slow!! Like how do i not get soo jealous!! Like were driving home from like a movie and ill see her texting a guy bcuz i looked in the corner of my eye to see and its some dude and like its soo hard to act like its cool when its really not to me!! How do i not be soo clingy i dont want to ruin things with her at all!! Also im still new at being a boyfriend(even thought right now were not together were just working on things) how much should a couple hang out a week because in the summer we used to hang out like every day like she was my summer but i do remember sometimes we would get into little fights but how much should a couple hang out a week!! How do i trust her when she says shes doing something? And last but not least I wanna know how much i should text her a day and what the messages should kinda be about because i dont want her to lose her attraction for me!! I know im young but i dont care were both in love and i know she wants the same too she just wants me to change my clinginess and jealousy!! Soo if you could answer those questions for me!! If we’ve learned anything from movies about relationships, it’s that communication is key (as well as the fact that you’ll be stopped by your true love before boarding an airplane, but this is irrelevant to the point of this article).  In today’s world, communication is easier than ever.  Even when we want to be left alone, it is nearly impossible with the advent of cell phones, emails, IM’s, and voicemail.  Technology may make it possible to order our groceries online and send text messages to China, but do these very same tools make relationships harder?
