The main reason that men end up feeling that they blew their first date is because they forgot they were talking to a woman. Girls expect to be the center of your attention so when you go off for an hour on a personal subject they get turned off quickly.
As you may or may not know, I am still dating. The first date is rarely followed by a second date, simply because I see too many flags that I know will lead to problems down the road. Instead of giving a list of things to look for, I thought it would be better to recount a recent date.
Part One: Choosing the Restaurant
Lets be honest. A restaurant really is not the ideal place to have a first date. The anxiety of choosing the right restaurant, “will he judge me if I order a salad?”, dropping a spicy meatball on your chinos, “I hate this dish, should I complain?”, and the elephant at the table when the check arrives. But despite all of this, people continue to go “food on first”. Despite its potential for awkwardness, the restaurant is a fine filter for seeing if your date has what it takes to make it to the second date, which may also be at a restaurant.
