The morning has its same feeling as the sunrays from the window shines through on to Carissa’s face. Her eyes open, and she reaches to the sky to stretch out her rested body. Carissa thinks to herself, “There’s nothing like that fresh stretch early in the morning.” Suddenly her mind floats back to her personal situation, and how each day it gets harder and harder to cope with living life the way they have been living. Pulling the vanilla colored sheet back, her legs emerge and she places her feet on the floor to feel the tan carpet play under her feet. It’s a new day in Carissa’s mind, but she is unsure how to get Jonah to see it as just that. She begins to think to herself once again, having conversations with herself are becoming a staple. My life is pretty boring now, and that I try to tell myself that it doesn’t bother me one bit.  Imagine walking through life with minimal drama.  It feels damn good.  There’s not a day that goes by that the blessings that have been bestowed upon me have not been appreciated.  Often times, people ask me “Where do I see my self in 5 years?”  Personally, it’s hard to answer because we plan for the future but each day is lived to the fullest.  As go back and forth to work, happiness is always on my agenda.  Traveling and seeing other states and the way other people live with Jonah has also helped my outlook. Therefore, each day was lived as if it was the last.

No part of me is a saint.  In no part of me has there been a claim that I’m a saint.  Mistakes will continue to be made in my life and there are demons I still fight. A passion for life, a passion that my husband used to possess, and a passion to succeed are what drove me. Does my mind think about the past?  Of course! We wouldn’t be in this mess if I had kept thinking about it.

Just last week, I was 24 and today the 30’s are beating down the door.  Those are memories etched in my soul forever because they made me the woman I am today. What woman would that be?  An unhappy one………

Carissa lifted from the bed to walk out and see if Jonah was still on the couch. With his leg draped over the couch, he breathed in and out, sleeping as if nothing was on his mind. Carissa stood there peacefully and watched him sleep. It’s a Saturday morning, so neither one of them need to arise swiftly like normal. Suddenly, Carissa had the though in her mind to go somewhere, anywhere with Jonah to try and reconnect. It had been a long time since the two of them just went somewhere on a whim. She figured with him out somewhere, the tow of them could release the lie they called their relationship and start anew. “Sometimes all it takes is for one person to be wrong in order to make it right,” she thought to herself, and on this day, she would be in the wrong. Carissa finally admitted to herself that she was wrong for trying to change him. They both had secrets but her love for him was strong enough where she didn’t care about the secrets. The secrets are what destroyed them. Carissa walked to the couch, kneeled down and kissed Jonah on the forehead. Pulling away, she could see him staring at her as if he was in shock. Taking his hand in hers, she just looked at him and said, “I’m so sorry for everything I have done to you and made you do in the name of making me happy. I don’t care about anything that you have done or are doing. I just want the man I fell in love back.” Jonah set his head back and relaxed. Suddenly, he looked into her eyes with a smirk on his face, “I told you that you wouldn’t like being married to a conventional guy. Now that you know that, lets get outta here and do something.” Carissa hit him with the pillow on the couch and dived into his arms. All the secrets, the lies, the drama all left t that moment as the two strangers became friends.
