Thus, I often work with clients to help them salvage their marriage. If not possible, then I help them get through the divorce process in the most amicable and stress free manner.

How does one find a good family law lawyer? A good approach can be to ask for a referral from a trusted friend, family member, or co-worker. If you can’t get the names of any lawyers that way, you can always look in the phone book or search on the web. Yet, how will you know if a lawyer is any good, just from reading their advertisement? How can you tell if the lawyer is competent and ethical? Even if competent and ethical, how will you know if you get along with a prospective lawyer, or feel comfortable trusting them with the many intimate details of your personal life, such as those that can be involved in a divorce?

The reality of facing divorce can be one of the most traumatic experiences many can go through. People’s circumstances can be different, in terms of what may motivate them to end a marriage. Yet, as a general rule, before seeking a divorce, such step should be thoroughly contemplated. The decision to move forward with a divorce should typically not be made while fighting or when feeling any anger. Instead, the decision to pursue a divorce should be made with a cool head and sound judgment. In certain relationships where there is no danger to one’s physical safety, or other harmful circumstances where it makes sense to immediately severe your relationship with your partner, divorce should be the last resort after all other good faith efforts to save the marriage have been exhausted.
