It IS POSSIBLE for females to compliment you and invite you places and not be interested in you romantically. If she says you’re funny, it’s because she thinks you are. If she invites you to an event, she’s just being social. Girls LOVE inviting friends of theirs to social events. It doesn’t mean anything. Don’t be confused, and don’t assume there’s more. She’s your friend. Period. So, treat her like one, until she tells you she wants something different.

If you haven’t let her know you are interested in more than friends, then do so and go from there. If you already have and that’s why she said she only wanted to be friends, then leave it at that. Couldn’t discern either way from your post.

You are better off to be friends with her so as to learn how to talk to girls. Perhaps she is doing the same thing for you. Just relax and don’t be in such a rush to commit but enjoy being friends with her. Friends is a good thing. Once you do get a girlfriend she will be valuable in telling you how to deal with her when you have problems with the new girlfriend.

Dear Daryl,
It’s true that people can like each other, think they’re funny, and want to hang out with them, but not in a romantic/sexual way. Get used to it.
Eventually you’ll be able to differentiate between the “just friends” and the potential girlfriends. In the mean time, truly listening to and relating to women/girls is a valuable skill so you might as well hone it.
